 An 18-year-old 2016 KCSE candidate living in the slums scored a straight A to become top student in Murang'a county. Juliet Akinyi grew up in slums and could barely afford food let alone school fees.  She scored 384/500 in KCPE and later scooped an A of 81 points to become the best student in Murang'a county
The former student of Mugoiri Girls used to collect soap from school to wash her clothes since her poor parents only roast maize and do menial jobs like washing clothes to sustain the family.

"From the family's humble shanties which they have called home since 1992 when Juma settled in, you can feel the deep level of poverty going by the stench that greets you while seated in the poorly ventilated house," reads a post by Ndungu Nyoro who highlighted her plight

Juliet who still has a fee balance of KSh 35,000 dreams to further her education but she can't afford a smile yet since her sister, Beryl Auma might fail to join Form One.

"Beryl sat KCPE 2016 at Gen Kago Primary school and obtained 372/500 marks. The third born child has been invited to join Chania Girls but her parents can barely afford even transport."

Ndungu Nyoro who highlighted her story has estimated the 15-year-old girl will require KSh 300,000 to complete her secondary education.
Juliet's former Deputy Headteacher of Mugoiri Girls is willing to help Auma but only if she gets a sponsor.
