Gor Mahia Set To Play Against Everton's First 11

Everton is set to visit Tanzania for a pre-season friendly with the winners of the just concluded Sportpesa Super Cup, Gor Mahia FC. The match will take place on the 13th of July 2017 and is probably the most high profile club friendly to have happened in East Africa. So the main question on everyone’s mind has been, “Will Everton FC actually brings it’s first team to play Gor?”
Everton has indeed confirmed that they will be staging a club friendly in Tanzania between their first team and Kenya’s Gor Mahia. Gor will become the first East African club to play an English Premier League Club in East Africa.

Sponsored by Sportpesa, the game will take place at the 65,000-seater Tanzania National Stadium. A host of high profile guests including Everton management, club legends, high ranking government officials from Tanzania and Kenya and many other guests are expected to watch the match.
The Tanzanian Vice President, Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan has confirmed that she will be the chief guest.
Other expected political leaders expected include former president Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete and Kenya’s opposition leader who is also the patron of Gor Mahia, Raila Amollo Odinga.
