Babu Owino On Why He Thinks President Trump Was Right About Sh*thole Remarks

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has joined the debate about President Donald Trump’s recent ‘sh*tholes’ remarks, hinting that the U.S President was right.
The US president has been condemned by the United Nations and the African Union after he referred to Haiti, El Salvador and nations in Africa as “shithole countries” during a White House meeting last week.

The leader of the free world has since defended himself amid international outrage insisting: “I am not a racist.”
As more world leaders continue to rebuke Trump, Babu Owino has revealed why he thinks he(Trump) was right.
The controversial legislator, in a post on social media, cited the high cost of living in the country.
“Stima imepanda, unga imepanda, mafuta taa imepanda na petrol imepanda. For a moment I think Trump was right,” wrote Babu.

Babu’s sentiments come in the wake of increased fuel prices announced by the Energy Regulatory Commission on Sunday.
According to the monthly review, super petrol will retail at Sh106.30 in Nairobi after a Sh2.13 increase, diesel goes up by Sh2.39 and kerosene also goes up by Sh3.36.
As a result, the prices of basic commodities have shot up, and COTU has urged the government to intervene by lowering costs or by increasing workers’ wages.
“The increases in the cost of energy trigger inflation thus lowering the purchasing power of workers and Kenyans as a whole. Failure by the government to cushion workers against these increases then let it prepare for direct confrontation from workers in demand for pay increases from the entire labour fraternity and all sectors of the economy,” COTU Sec.Gen Francis Atwoli said.

The hike in fuel prices also comes when a 2kg packet of maize flour is up from Sh90 to Sh120 following the end of a government subsidy last month.
Worst still, if projections by Famine Early Warning System Network (FEWS NET) are accurate, Kenyans will be buying a 2kg packet of maize flour for Sh200.
