Watch Governer Sonko Splash Cash on Air Tickets For Broke Gor Mahia

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has appeared to celebrate the recent dismissal of an election petition against his August 8 win by bailing out the cash-strapped Gor Mahia FC.

The wealthy County Boss once again proved his philanthropic mettle after splashing the cash on 30 air tickets to facilitate K’Ogallo’s travel to South Africa ahead of today’s CAF Confederation Cup return match against SuperSport United.

This was confirmed by club organising secretary Judith Anyango, who told Nation Sport; “We have received 30 tickets from the governor so we are good to go. Most of the players have received visas while some are still at the embassy trying to get theirs. I believe the team will leave at 8 pm this (Tuesday) evening.”

The 16-time Kenyan Premier League winners were forced to postpone their trip to South Africa on Monday due to severe challenges in acquiring documentation for the travelling contingent.

The match is scheduled 8 pm at the Lucas ‘Masterpieces’ Moripe Stadium in the South African capital of Pretoria. The winner will automatically gain entry into the tournament’s group stage, and will also be entitled to a Sh27 million cash reward.

At the time of going to press, there was still uncertainty if Gor Mahia would make it in time for the match as officials camped at the South African embassy trying to resolve visa issues for a number of key players including striker Jacques Tuyisenge, winger Francis Kahata and Ivorian Ephrem Guikan

Meanwhile, a Nakuru Court has issued warrants of arrest against four Gor Mahia Football Club officials over a two-year Sh437,000 debt owed to Donnies Bar and Hotel.

Resident magistrate Wilson Kitur ordered the arrest of Ambrose Rachier (Chairperson), John Pesa (Vice-Chairperson), Ronald Ngala (Secretary) and Jolawi Obondo (treasurer) after they disobeyed a court order to settle the hotel bill.
