Veteran journalist Naim Bilal appointed KBC Managing Director

Veteran journalist Naim Bilal has been appointed the Managing Director of the State-owned Kenya Broadcasting cooperation (KBC).

In a gazette notice, Information, Communication and Technology Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru stated that the appointment that takes effect immediately will be for a period of three years.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 5 (1) of the Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and Technology appoints Naim Bilal to be the Managing Director of the Kenya Broadcasting cooperation for a period of three years with effect from 20th March 2019,” the notice stated.

Bilal, a former editor at the Nation Media Group, has previously worked at the Judiciary, and is currently the Head of the Kenya News Agency, where he also oversees operations of the Government Advertising Agency.

He will be replacing Waithaka Waihenya whose contract as KBC Managing Director ended in 2017.
