VIDEO: A security officer filmed assaulting woman in Kilimani

A security officer filmed assaulting a woman has been suspended.

The guard, identified as Philip Kiriba working for the KK Security Company was captured on film assaulting a woman at Lobelia Court in Kilimani, Nairobi.

Kiriba’s actions were criticised by the Private Security Regulatory Authority CEO Fazul Mahamed.

In a statement, the body said that he has since been suspended pending further investigation into the incident.

“Following preliminary investigations of the incident, we have ordered for the immediate suspension of the officer, an internal disciplinary process by the employer as well as reporting the incident to the nearest police station…

“This incident clearly shows the necessity for training especially in customer service, effective communication, dispute resolution and conflict management,” part of the statement read.

In the widely shared video that has irked many, the guard is seen warning the woman to stop filming her before assaulting her.

“Unajua wakati mwingine simu zingine zinashikangwa zinapigishwa chini… Usinichukue video… sawa?” he is heard saying before heading towards the woman.

However, the woman declined to stop filming while pointing out that she’s at her home.

“Niko kwangu boss… Niko kwangu boss,” she is heard saying before the video is interrupted as he hits her.

The cause of the despite is yet to be established but reports indicate it was brought about by racial discrimination.
