Kariobangi Sharks Feed on Everton’s Toffees as Brian Bwire Steals the Show




Kariobangi Sharks’ goalkeeper Brian Bwire was the hero as Kariobangi Sharks saw off English Side Everton FC in a thrilling match played at a fully packed Kasarani Stadium.

Sharks put on a great performance to hold Everton to a one-all draw in normal time

Duke Abuya gave Sharks a 27th minute lead. A completely changed Everton side was later able to equalize in the second half courtesy of a smart set-piece from Youngster Joe Williams.


Sharks had a great openining in the first half as they dicatated most of the proceedings. Their efforts finally paid off in the 27th minute courtesy of a Duke Abuya brilliance.

The winger cut in from the right flank, feigned a pass before firing past a helpless Everton keeper Maarten Stekelenburg.

Both teams then got goalscoring opportunities but none of them could convert them to actual goals.


The tie went to the break with the Kariobangi based side having the advantage.

In the second half, Everton showed urgency at goal with some steller performance but they were unable to find a breakthrough.

New blood Fraser Horby, Dennis Adeniran and Joe Williams were a major threat to Sharks with some stellar performances and runnings in the Sharks half.

Sharks would then concede a freekick at the edge of the area and youngster Joe Williams beat Brian Bwire in Sharks goal with a low freekick.


This did not shake the Shark ship as they gave their all to hold the former English Champions to a 1-1 draw in normal time with the match having to be decided on penalties.

Both Goalscorers Joe Williams and Duke Abuya missed from the Penalty spot in the first round of the shootout.

Everton’s Broadhead converted from the spot before Sharks’ Omoto pulled one back for the KPL side in the second round of the shootouts.


In the third round, Everton’s Bowler and Sven Yidah of Sharks both finish from the spot.

Hornby then finished calmly for the Toffees, but the Sharks man, Abege responded well.

Everton’s Adeniran saw his effort saved by Brian Bwire, who then converted the decisive penalty.
