Kipchoge will begin his quest in Vienna to become the first person to complete a marathon in less than two hours and has received immense support back at his hometown in Kasiyiwa.

The Nandi County Government will hold the prayer rally at Kapsisiywa Primary School where Kipchoge studied as a young boy and big screens will be installed for a live public viewing of the race.

Screens have been erected at the Eldoret CBD where hundreds are expected to view the INEOS Challenge while others will be watching in various restaurants.

Uasin Gishu residents have meanwhile expressed optimism that the Olympic champion will achieve the mark that has been touted as athletics’ last greatest barrier.

Led by Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno, the residents now want the government to complete the stadia in the region to help budding young athletes.
