Kenya Ports Authority Employee Found Dead in His House




A Kenya Ports Authority Employee was on Saturday, May 2, found dead at his house in Santana area in Changamwe, Mombasa County.

Sources  reported that Josphat Muliro was found dead in his house after neighbours notified the authorities of his disappearance.


Circumstances that led to his death have not yet been established.

Changamwe Police boss Ali Ndiema stated that the deceased had been staying alone for two years after he and his wife went separate ways.

"We got information that the deceased had long-standing disputes with his wife after they separated. Our homicide team is probing the matter to ascertain his death," he told journalists.

The 56-year old's body was wrapped in a body bag by health officials dressed in hazmat suits and taken to the Coast General Hospital mortuary.


A postmortem is expected to be conducted to establish the cause of his death.

Of the 22 Covid-19 fatalities in the country, Kenya Ports Authority has recorded two. As of April 24, 2020, 24 employees from the company had tested positive for the virus and had been placed in quarantine.

Mombasa County comes second after Nairobi in the list of counties with the highest number of Covid-19 cases.


On May 2, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho stated that a section of Mombasa residents were not taking the pandemic seriously and threatened to escalate the cessation of movement to a complete lockdown.


"Two days ago we rolled out mass testing in Old Town, the residents are roughly 28,000. The figure we have is that we have 28,000 residents in this area but the number that has turned out to be tested are about 131," Joho stated.

So far in Kenya, 435 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19. Of this, 152 have recovered while 22 have died.
