The Teachers Service Commission, to hire 10,300 intern teachers in a bid to cushion overstretched teaching force in public primary and secondary schools.
The commission is targeting to deploy 4,300 teachers in primary and 6,000 tutors in Secondary. Suitably qualified candidates should apply by 23 October 2019 and should be ready for posting any part of the country.
That applying must have personal accident insurance to cover personal risks 12- month intership period. Teachers who will be hired for Secondary schools will pocket sh 15,000 per month while those in primary schools will earn sh 10,000.
The good news is that those who will secure chance as interns are likely to be absorbed on permanent terms depending on performance and funds availability.
A couple of months ago as reported by The Sauce, TSC was looking to hire 5,000 teachers for both Primary and Secondary schools.
Primary schools, which have about 10 million pupils, are short of 38,054 teachers, while secondary schools, which are grappling with a huge enrolment surge driven by the government’s campaign to achieve a 100 per cent transition from primary, have vacancies for 58,291. This means that the basic education segment has a deficit of 96,345 teachers, according to TSC figures.
