Kenya has finished second in the medal standings at the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.
The country which had 54 participants, finished the Championships with a total of 11 medals, 5 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze on Sunday (06.10.19).
The USA finished at first place, Jamaica third, People’s Republic of China fourth, arch rivals Ethiopia came fifth and Uganda at ninth place.
Here are all medals that Kenya scooped at the championships.
Timothy Cheruiyot won gold in the Men’s 1,500 M race, World champ Conseslus Kipruto bagged gold in the Men’s 3,000M steeplechase, Olympic champ Helen Obiri also won gold in the Women’s 5,000M race, Ruth Chepng’etich won gold in the Women Marathon and Beatrice Chepkoech won gold in the Women’s 3,000M Steeplechase.
Faith Kipyegon and Margaret Chelimo Kipkemboi secured silver medals in the 1,500M and 5,000M Women races respectively.
Ferguson Cheruiyot Rotich earned a bronze medal in the Men’s 800M, Rhonex Kipruto bagged bronze in the Men’s 10,000M, Amos Kipruto got bronze in the Men’s Marathon and Agnes Jebet Tirop won bronze in the Women’s 10,000M race.
It is also worth noting that Obiri and Chepkoech broke the Championship records in their respective races, while Conseslus Kipruto broke the world-leading record in the 3000M steeplechase and Faith Kipyegon broke the National Record in the 1500M race.
Kenya is also ranked second in the all-time medal table with a total of 151 medals so far with 60 gold medals, 50 silver and 41 bronze medals.
